Nice Thread

Postby Jason M. Ham » Tue Oct 30, 2007 2:12 pm

Wow, this movie thread is getting nice and long. You guys must really like movies. I'm taking your recommendations and writing them down so I can check them out later (probably on pirated DVD).
Speaking of pirated DVDs, do you think pirating is looked down upon in Korean culture? Why or why not? How about in other cultures? I have seen a lot of anti-piracy ads at the beginning of American movies for example.

Anyway, I think Korean directors have a unique eye, and I realy enjoy watching Korean movies because they give me a little window into Korean small "c" culture. I know the situations in some of them are not exactly like real life (just like Hollywood movies don't exactly depict real American behavior some of the time), but a lot of them are based on realistic circumstances and on Korean behavior in response to those situations.

I find them fascinating, and I believe they help me understand my Korean students' and friends' attitudes and beliefs a little better.

By the way, Joseph brings up a good cultural point at the end of his post. What do you guys think? Is it strange to go out to a movie alone in Korea? :?:

There are a few movies called Double Target, even one released in West Germany in 1987. I looked online, though, and I think you mean the new 2007 version. I din't know what you meant at first because it's actually called Shooter in the US. Do you know why Korea changes the titles of some movies? I was always curious about that. Does anybody know?

Are you a fan of Mark Wahlberg? He's been doing some great movies lately. I especially liked his lines in The Departed. Here's a picture of him. What do you guys (and girls) think?

Is Once a Korean movie? Who are the main actors in it? What is the genre and the general plot? How did you feel watching the movie alone? Were there any other people in the theater? Is it a usual cultural thing for Koreans to see movies alone or together these days? :)

And if you love spectacle movie, i recommend '300'.
If it's comic books you want, you'll love this look at Spartans versus Persians.

Have you seen the movie called "disturbia"?

The hero steal a glance at his neighbors, so the problem was occured.

His secretly watch neighbors acting is becoming more terrible.

He even found an occurrence that one man killed a woman.

In the end, He chased and catched the killer.

Among the movie characters, there are a cute korean guy, the name

called "Aron Yoo". So when I watch this movie, I was pleased.

I think this movie has peculiar story, and I recommend to you.

In my opinion, 2007 best movie is spider-man 3.
Because a computer graphic is better than previous movies.
While I see a movie, I have great admiration for a character's movement.
Also, Story's organization is superior.
As time goes by, I am interesting the movie.
If you don't watch spider-man 3, i would like to recommend that
you watch certainty.

Spiderman 3 & such...

Postby Jason M. Ham » Sat Nov 17, 2007 5:12 pm

Did you like Venom or Sandman better? Who was your favorite villain from the Spiderman series and why? Did you also see D-War this summer? How did it compare with the usual Hollywood movies? Do you think computer graphics will keep getting better, or is it too expensive? Will we ever see computer graphics that look 100% real?

It’s just my thinking.
I’m interested in food.
So I want to know the other country’s food.
When I traveled in China, I could not eat shang cai.
It is a kind of plant like 미나리.
Its tastes like soup.
And Doorian, a fruit, has terrible smell.
But almost food was very very good for me.

Where have you seen durian before? I've eaten in in Malaysia and Indonesia. I was almost killed by a durian that fell from a really high tree in the jungle in Siberut. That's a true story. Ask me more about it if you're curious.

I also saw it a couple of years ago for sale at LG Department Store in Jungdong, but it was really expensive as an import. What are some other foods you would never try? Why not? :)

Harry Potter

Postby Inha(53)KimJiHo » Wed Nov 21, 2007 5:29 am

I have never read any series of the Harry Potter. I have just experienced it by movie. Actually,it came up at first when I had been in military service. So. I could not have time to take it. For several years, it has come up several times; but I could not still have time to read or watch it. In this year, I have taken some titles of series at once. Those are extremly excellent and brilliant story and screen. I have impressed such a wonderful feeling. Next time, I will try to be the first viewer for next Harry Potter title. It makes me expected.

I'm a huuuuge fan of movies.
My boyfriend and I are always searching for the new ones.
We almost saw the movies that you mentioned at the survey.
and, you kow what? We actually talked about that before.
which one is the best movie we've ever seen?
And our decision was "Transformer".
We waited to see that movie almost for 6 months.
So, We got really high expectation about it.
And, truelly, that movie didn't let us down.
We were just loving it.
By the way, I saw "August Rush" last night.
It was awesome!! And I strongly recommend to see that movie.
If you didn't watch "Transformer" then, Please watch it first :P
and then watch "August Rush" :P

Half of popple says "Worst!". Half of popple says "Best!".

What's the true?

I think "The WAR" is not a well-made movie,

However, It's enough good movie.

Usually, we not see the top class C.G(Computer grahpics) on the our(Korean) movies.

But, "The WAR"'s C.G is so Good! (over? ^^;;)

Although challenge to the HOLYWOOD is fail, it will be base of next challenge.

So, I think "The WAR" is the best movie.

Hmm.. It's so simple.. Pass!! (^^;;)
