Hi~ I got the part-time job, too.
First part-time job is when I was freshman, I worked in a bookstore about 1 and half years. I found the goods for a customer, arranged books, and cleaned the store. Second part-time job is 1 year ago, I worked in a real estate appraiser's office about 9 months. I typed estimation documents, send telephone massages to a real estate appraiser, and cleaned the office room.
Part-time job is difficult, but it brings many social experiences, a new possibility, and money~!

Postby Inha(53)LimYouJin » Sun Nov 18, 2007 6:09 am

I have worked part-time job since I entered a university school.
First time, I worked at a 24 store. I usually clean up and arrange goods on the shelf.
Although owner gave a few money, I gain experience.
After that time, I have taught student in math, science.
To teach make me pleasant and give me much money.
So I bought a present for my family and made a trip to Japanese by money.
I think,,
Part-time job is a good way we gain experience, accomplisher and money so on. :D

my experience of working as a waitress

Postby hufsjina57 » Wed Nov 21, 2007 5:03 am

i had worked at Japanese restaurant in America.
It was pretty tough to get order, serve food, and clean up the tables.; however, since i could get some tips i couldn't stop working there.
Sometimes, i earned like 100bucks for the tip!!!
I believe the amount of tip was greater than my payment.

The funny thing is that Asians, especially Koreans were so cheap that they never gave me more than 15% of their bills.
I believe tip makes waiters or waitresses work harder and treat customers nicely.
I think it's an amazing culture~~
In my opinion, my country would better take that culture~ :)

I've honestly never held a true part-time job yet. I've worked for myself as a freelance writer for the last year. I don't have the memory to be a waiter and they're treated pretty bad over here. Decent money if you can take it though. The only other place would be at a fast food restaurant or one of the local resorts. They won't pay minimum wage though. They insist that their "Bonus" card is worth at least $3 an hour. I really wanted that 5 dollars off my next bucket of balls at the driving range  . Almost no teenagers I know really take their job seriously though. They're spoiled rich kids for the most part though, so I don't think that applies everywhere. Do you think your part time job was a good experience overall? I know that the pay for part-time work is pretty bad over here, especially since the jobs are usually boring and without benefits.

I'd nerverhave real part time job.
I just help my father and friend and get some (little) money.
But I did tutoring.
To tell the truth in korea, university students can do tutorring very easily.
And it cost higher than part time job.
But I don't think it is good.
University students don't feel a sense of responsibility.
They just want to get some money.
I think it's big problem.

part time job

Postby Inha(39)NaSaeNuRi » Tue Nov 27, 2007 2:56 pm

I had worked part time jobs two times.
First, I worked at a 24 hour store.
It doesn't hard work but I received a few money.
Usually I was clean up the store and calculate the merchandise.
Second, I worked at a specialty store of a pork cutlet.
Now I worked as a tutor of one student.
It is easy compare the tutor with another part time jobs.
But I feel more responsibility.

I worked in department store when I am freshman For summer vacation.
It is very very difficult and very hard job.
I had to stand up under for about 9 hours.
But It is valuable experience to me.
On that score, I get confident and I save money.

This parttime was a strenuous job for me.
Now, I do mentoring at BaekSeock Highschool.
I am happy to teach mentee.
Parttime job is a great help to grow up my thinking.
I knew that earning mony is difficult and teaching is pleasant for me through parttime job.

i am not sure i accept your point
cause i found korean students look down upon the one who does part time job
once i did part time job in a Bar near our school. actully i think that's a good job for a foreigner to practice korean and in the same time the atmosphere is not bad for young people. but when my korean friends found i did part time job they looked very surprised and they thought the reason why i did part time job is i need money.....
i really can't understand them

I'm not that good at speaking.
But I can teach my students in grammar and vocabulary.
It's really time saving job.
And I also can study english to teach my students.
It's really good for me who prepare for English test.
