stand someone up

Post by James Trotta » Thu Apr 15, 2010 9:12 am

One time I had a date in college and I was supposed to meet her at her dorm at 7:30 and then take her to a restaurant where a bunch of friends would hang out every Thursday night. I know it's a terrible first date idea - way too early to meet the friends - but I had made a bet that I could bring a date to the restaurant before my friend could.

Anyhow, by 7:45 she still hadn't shown up at her dorm. I left, figuring I had been stood up. Next time I saw here she asked where I had been. Turns out she had gotten out of class late and then waited for me thinking I had stood her up...

When I was a highschool student, I was interested to a boy in neighborhood highschool and I asked for a date. He stood me up at the day we were supposed to meet and afterall I gave up him.

I think being stand someone up is very rude behavior. Do Koreans really do this? I don't think so.. I think it isn't common in Korea. Instead, Koreans drop contact with someone who they aren't interested in.
