Take those high heels off, boy

So a boy wears high heels to his high school and the principle tells him to take them off.
“As a principal of a high school, I have to take the paternal side as well, I have to make sure he’s going to be okay,” Heilmann told Fox, adding he was worried the student would be subjected to bullying. “Anytime anyone goes out from, quote, ‘the norm,’ or anytime anyone wants to make a statement, you have to be willing to take what comes with it.”
And the principle does have a responsibility to make sure the kids will be OK but doesn't that mean punishing the bullies instead of the boy wearing heels (not that he was really punished other than being told to remove the heels)?

Obviously the high heels made the principal uncomfortable and that is why he asked the boy to remove them otherwise he probably wouldn't have thought twice about it.
