What sports do you play?

Post by James Trotta » Fri Jan 20, 2012 2:31 am

The first sport I tried was baseball, which I played for a while as a kid in Little League. I dreamt of playing ball professionally and practiced for hours in my backyard. The problem was that I couldn't hit. I wonder if I would do better now that I have glasses.

Then I tried track. I was on the school team and they had me running 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races. I was pretty bad at all of them though. Of course I was on the high school team even though I was still in middle school, but I had no real desire to get good.

So then in high school I started wrestling instead. I did that for three years, but again I didn't really have much desire so I quit to become a musician and started playing the drums.

In college I didn't play anything, not even for fun, so I got way out of shape. One time I went to the pool and almost drowned swimming my second lap. Then at 23 I came to Korea and started playing kumdo, but not for long. Then 10 years later I got back into kumdo. Then when I hurt my ankle I switched to hapkido. Then when I hurt my wrist I switched to boxing, which I still do now.

When I was a student, I liked to play soccer very much.
However nowadays I just watch TV. Because I have no enough time to play.
And running for 90 minutes is too much for me.
So I am planning to learn golf.

Umm... Actually I don't play any sports at all nowadays, but I did before I became highschool students.

When I was in the elementary school, I played taekwondo and soccer.

These two sports were really popular for Korean kids at that time, and still they are.

But after graduating from elementary school, I quit taekwondo.

After graduating from middle school, I stoped playing soccer because I didn't have much interest in doing that than before, and I had to study because my score was really bad.

Nowadays, I just do exercise like riding bicycle alongside routes set up besides river for bicycle-runner, or just walking around the neighborhood while listening to music.

But these activities start to feel boring. So if I get a chance, I want to learn new sports, like playing tennis or golf.

Hm.. it's too hard to exactly say about sport, in my case.

I had played many kind of sports. but now, I'm not sure, what sports I play.

Some sports, I played, change over time.

When I was a student in the elementary school, I live nearby Jamsil Sports Complex. So, I joined baseball supporters 'LG Twins'.

But, it is just in the elementary school. After that, I entered middle school, I enjoyed soccer.

Suddenly, I had to transfer to other middle school, so that try to fit into the new school that I started to play basketball. but, it's cool.

Anyways, stop talking about events of the past, I try to say nowadays.

One is winter sports kind of ski.

I go ski resort every winter season.

The other is just stretch. ;-)

'cuz, I don't want to be overweight. so I sometimes do kind of push-up, sit-up and jogging. That's it.

Since I was in elementary school, I've played kickball(foot-baseball).

My friends, school love this sports. Especially women like this sports because dodge ball is usually very dangerous. When we were playing dodge ball, many friends's finger was broken-also their glasses. But kickball is more safe than dodge ball. It's more exciting than dodge ball. Kicking the ball, oh it's very fantastic.

Kickball quite popular game. There were many games, competition even city competition.

Elementary - Middle - High school and even university held kickball competition. I'm always clean up hitter. I'm pretty good at kicking ball and catching ball.
Last competition - Asian cup(in HUFS) - my department got third grade.

Since when I was young, I have loved playing with balls.
I was poor at running and jumping, so I started to play sports with balls.
When I was a middle school student, we usually played dodge ball in gym classes,
and I was a player who threw a ball very fast and catched it very well. :D
In high school, we learned many kinds of sports.
We played golf, tennis, gate ball, table tennis (ping-pong), and so on.
Most of them were played with balls, so I liked to play them.
Now, during this winter vacation, I registered a squash course at Imun-dong Sports Center,
and I go there twice a week with my friend.
Playing squash is a little bit hard, but it is also very fun to me, so I'm really enjoying it ~!!

I'm a little embrassed because I didn't play any sports since I graduated from highschool.
the only thing I usually do is hiking. If that's okay, I just called it sports.
I love hiking because I know it sounds weird, but I feel accomplishment from this.
Hiking is tough. especially in winter. My father loves winter hiking so I have to go with him. When mountain path covered with snow or ice, it's so hard to walk just one little step, but Winter Mountain is super beautiful. and I love it.

Pro-baseball games begun in 1980.
I really liked to play baseball at that time. I was 13 years old. I was elementary student in Kwang-Ju.

Everyday I played baseball in Cheon-Nam university with my friend.
I was a pitcher all games, and as long goes, my right arm was hurt
due to using to much.
So I started to pitch the ball with my left arm.
It was hard to me first time. but in the end, I could throw the ball with my left arm.

I'm 43 years old, but I still really love to play baseball.

Post by downerjung » Tue Jan 24, 2012 12:55 pm

when i was a young or kid, i dreamt of being gorgeous basketbll player. so I practice playing with my friends. even winter.
the more i played, the more i could better. so i wanted a enrollment test in basketvball team in changwon.
After taking enrollment test, coach allowed me to play basketball as player.
As time went by...when i was middleschool, my dream kept me imagine basketball player like sang min Lee.
But my parents thought 'athlete player' was hard and had trouble with being successful. if i dropped out, there was no way to break the trobled situations, so they didn't allow me to enter a representative player in kyungsangnamdo. but now, i ply basketball with my friends as a hobby.
later, i want to play with my english classmates.
this is the end. thankyou!!

When I was a student, I liked P.E.class. I got good grade at jumping robe and running.
I wasn't good at ball game but it was always fun to play with ball. Nowadays I go to health club and sometimes I play badminton with my sister.
It's really funny because she and I are getting harder to be winner. Watching soccer is also fun to me.

In these days, I sometimes run on a treadmill. Running makes me refresh and healthy.
When I was a freshman, I was taught golf, and table tannis in the sport club.
Both need to master the right posture first. I couldn't endure this to the end.
I want to learn these sports again.
