There is such a saying in Korea, a crazy girl who are jumping neolttwigi (Korean jumping game similar to see-sawing ). This means that a person has no manners, polite like the mentally ill. The word 'crazy' have a great ripple effect as slang. If I say it to someone, he or she feels humiliated. This word is extreme expression by so much. Reversely, in English, this word 'crazy' means 'to pay someone compliment'. Here are some examples. "How was the movie last night?" "The movie was so crazy!" "How was your date?" "Wow~ Fantastic! I think I am so crazy for my lover."

I think that "Crazy" has two opposite meanings in English.
The one is like you mentioned, the other is like this examples:
She must be crazy to lend him money.
Are you crazy? We could get killed doing that. *^.~*
