Are these sentences grammatically incorrect ?

Post by farshidjh » Mon Jul 09, 2007 6:28 pm

I would be appreciated if anyone could help me to know whether these sentences are grammatically correct ?

1- Such a clamor did the falling pots make that the noise woke the sleeping baby up.

2- The council never wanted the new supermarket to be built, nor did local residents.

3- So exhausted was the winner that he collapsed soon after finishing the race.

About the first sentence I have a feeling that it should be written like this :
1-(edited) Such a clamor did the falling pots make that the noises woke up the sleeping baby.

And as for the second sentence I prefer to write it this way :
2-(edited) The council wanted the new supermarket not to be built, nor did local residents.

About the last one, I think that the second clause is not correct :
3-(edited) So exhausted was the winner that soon after finishing the race
he collapsed.

Thanks in advance,
Farshid
